Oklahoma City, Okla. — Not-for-profit organizations rely upon the due diligence, fundraising support and strong leadership of a volunteer board. For Circle of Care, a 102-year-old faith-based agency, volunteers are the backbone of its longevity and success in serving children and families across Oklahoma.
Circle of Care’s newest board member, Pam Lane, stated, “I have a deep concern and commitment to serve disadvantaged children and youth of Oklahoma.”
Circle of Care’s mission is to provide help, healing and hope to children and families through foster care, independent living and transitional living programs.
An attorney by trade, Lane has been a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer since 2009. She’s also on the board of Pivot, CASA, Citizens for Children & Families, and a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church Finance Committee.
As part of her service on the Citizens for Children & Families, Lane chairs a Foster Care Task Force. This group is searching for new and innovative methods of delivering a more effective foster care model that could be utilized in Oklahoma County. Lane says, “I want to help these children reach their highest potential in spite of their troubled family circumstances.”
Oklahoma’s foster care system has been undergoing reform since the Pinnacle Plan was implemented in 2012. While improvements have been made, there is still much work to do to strengthen and support families in crisis, keep youth out of foster care, ensure siblings maintain connection in foster care and support the considerable number of youth who age out of foster care every year in Oklahoma.
Circle of Care President and CEO, Keith Howard, stated, “I’m honored Pam has chosen to join our board. Her knowledge, passion and leadership will be instrumental to our organization as we continue to provide help, healing and hope to children and families in crisis across Oklahoma.”
