PARENT TO PARENT
We're here to offer hope and guidance to parents seeking reunification.
Everyone can use a shoulder to lean on and someone who has been there before to help guide the way through the child welfare system. Parent to Parent is an innovative program that empowers parents, restores families, and transforms generations.
How We Help
We provide peer mentoring to parents whose children have been placed in foster care. Our mentors are selected specifically for their lived experience navigating the child welfare system. Mentors offer support throughout the reunification process including:
✓ Social Support
✓ Guidance navigating the child welfare system
✓ Help accessing needed resources
✓ Support toward reunification
✓ And More
Who Can Be A Mentor?
✓ Parents whose cases have been closed out for a minimum of a year
✓ Parents who have corrected safety concerns for least one year
✓ Have a healthy & stable family situation with no current
child welfare involvement or safety concerns
✓ Have the flexibility to attend state & local meetings and training
✓ Must participate in all mandated training as well
as individual & group supervision
✓ Agree to demonstrate behavior that will reflect
positively on the Parent to Parent program
✓ Agree to share their experiences as a learning tool
with other parents, community partners, and child
welfare staff
