Family Specialist Assistant- FEW Campus (Tulsa)

The Oklahoma United Methodist Circle of Care is looking for a Family Specialist Assistant on the Frances E. Willard Campus in Tulsa, OK. This position will work closely with the Family Specialists for both the Pearl’s Hope Program and the Foster Care office. This position will provide general administrative support to the staff in the foster care office while also working directly with Pearl’s Hope tenants as they participate in the program. This is a 40-hour/week position that will be supervised by the F.E.W. Campus Administrator. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide an emotionally supportive environment for tenants and foster families while establishing and maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Provide in-home support to families, which may include:
    • Assist with childcare for parent meetings
    • Transport women and/or children in a company owned vehicle
    • Assist in shopping and securing needed items for families
    • Assist in setting up and preparing bedrooms and baskets for new tenants
    • Document all interactions with families as required
    • Delivering items and paperwork to a foster home
  • Assist with coordination of donations for both Foster Care and Pearl’s Hope
  • Respectfully communicate with tenants, including providing feedback on inappropriate behaviors
  • Collect, prepare, and submit various data to appropriate staff
  • Work cooperatively with program staff to coordinate special events and activities
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and successfully implement new skills, knowledge, and procedures
  • Serve as on-call weekend staff as needed
  • Support and oversee volunteers
  • Perform assorted clerical duties, such as copying, filing, ordering office supplies, answering phones, and maintaining files for foster care office
  • Complete background checks, references, and foster care certification paperwork
  • Perform other such duties as assigned

  • Capable of lifting heavy objects of up to 30 pounds, including small children for transportation
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 60% of the time.
  • Able to ascend/descend stairs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Education: Associate’s Degree or higher in social service or related field preferred
  • Pass a thorough background check (including fingerprinting), Department of Transportation check, pre-employment physical, and drug test as required by the Department of Human Services
  • Possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and a good driving record
