Home Study Specialist Independent Contractor (Western, and Northwestern OK)

Circle of Care is seeking a Home Study independent contractor.  Assesses homes for prospective adoptive, traditional foster care, and kinship placements. Must provide your own transportation, supplies and have experience writing home studies. You must be willing to travel to panhandle in your personal vehicle including the following Oklahoma counties:

  • Woods
  • Woodward

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct home studies of prospective adoptive, traditional foster care, and kinship home applicants referred through the contract with the Department of Human Services (DHS)
  • Must conduct home assessments according to DHS policy
  • Assess homes and families with the safety and well-being of the child(ren) as the primary concern
  • Complete all paperwork within the required time frame of 30 days (45 days for Spanish speaking families)
  • Attend required 6 hours OKDHS training annually regarding completion of home studies and additional training as required by Circle of Care

SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Present exceptional customer service with high expectations for quality of service
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both Spanish and English a plus
  • Ability to communicate thoughts and concerns clearly, both orally and in written form
  • Willing to service counties adjacent to Oklahoma County, as well as occasionally counties in northern and western Oklahoma
  • Must exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Tolerance to work under adverse conditions
  • Open to learning and willing to use new skills and information; receptive to constructive criticism
  • Work independently, and as a team member, without constant supervision
  • Maintain willingness to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the agency

  • Ability to use standard office equipment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with the ability to learn additional software
  • Capable of lifting heavy objects of up to 35 pounds

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher required
  • Pass a thorough background check.
  • Possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Minimum of 2 years of Child Welfare experience

This is a subcontractor position and will be paid $500.00 per homestudy. You will be responsible for all tax filing, supplies and transportation.
